The Ministry of Commerce announced that lemon exports were temporarily stopped as of April 8, 2025.
In a statement made by the Ministry, taking into account the cold weather and frost cases experienced in certain regions of the country in the recent period, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in coordination with the aim of protecting the balance of domestic supply and demand in the lemon product and the priority of supply security, it was said that the lemon exports of lemon be stopped since 8 April 2025:
“As it is known, with the aim of providing food supply safety, the balance of supply and demand of agricultural products and foodstuffs and domestic and international price developments are closely monitored by the authorized institutions. For this purpose, the protection and increasing domestic production is used in order to avoid speculative price increases, and in case of need for speculative price increases, the foreign trade policy instruments are used by the Ministry of Adana. As a result of the studies carried out with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regarding the frost cases, the decision of the Lemon product will be taken from our country as a result of the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In the coming period, by the Ministry of Trade, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the relevant public and private sector organizations, the protection of food supply and security, facilitating the transportation of our people at reasonable prices and preventing the manipulative situations that may occur in food markets will be applied to all policy measures and inspection.
