The Syrian government has signed a new agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that ends weeklong clashes in the country’s north and formally merges the group into the state, privately owned Syria TV reported Sunday.
The deal between Damascus and the SDF, which dominates the U.S.-backed terror group YPG, entails that state institutions will enter eastern and north eastern governorates.
It also includes the YPG/SDF handing over all rights to oil fields to the Syrian government.
